I endorsed the service, and they did it on the same day. They also refilled some of the other fluids, and they ran a complete test drive period to ensure that everything was shifting properly. When I retrieved the car, they provided a detailed report of the work they performed and even demonstrated the old filter and the color of the fluid they had extracted, which was evidence of how long past due the service was.
It was a fresh air-experience leaving Berks Auto Repair that night. My SUV drove so smoothly as though I was riding a new car. The stumbling had disappeared entirely, and the engine picked up faster. It is already three months, and I encountered no problem. I have driven everywhere, in back roads and in highway trips and the transmission is behaving well.

I have visited two times; once to have my tires rotated and once to have my car flushed of coolant. Each time, I have been made a priority by the team, not another figure on their board.
Berks Auto Repair made a worried rookie feel like a successful car owner. Well, I never thought I would ever enjoy the process of going to an auto shop, but I am here. This is where you need to be whether you are new to town, unsure of your car or just want to be treated honestly and kindly.

As I drove away, my SUV was a totally different car. Centred, straight and smooth without consequent vibration. I did not feel unsafe. And as a mom, that is it all.
A couple of days later, I received a follow-up text which just asked me whether I was happy with the service and whether I had any questions. Such after-service is not so common these days.
To anybody who is not changing tires yet, or anybody that is afraid the places they go to get tires removed are not doing it correctly, come into Berks Auto Repair. They are straightforward, cheap and very client oriented.
A couple of days later, I received a follow-up text which just asked me whether I was happy with the service and whether I had any questions. Such after-service is not so common these days.

I phoned and gave an account of my worry. They could book me an appointment after the next day, as I came, the staff was professionally kind to me. They did not assess me as someone who knew nothing about cars they listened, questioned the right way and informed me that they would take a closer look.
A few hours later I got a call back by the technician processing my car. He explained to me simply: my transmission fluid was already seriously contaminated, and there was a filthy filter in the system that was not allowing adequate flow of the fluid. The positive thing though was that the actual transmission parts such as the clutch packs and solenoids were still in good condition. He suggested a complete transmission flushing: fluid replacement, filter change, follow up of any dirt on pan, and computer reset to shift patterns.
I liked that he did not scare me into getting a transmission rebuild or other expensive work. He told me that my existing transmission could serve me a couple of years with frequent check-ups. Such honesty is not frequently met or well appreciated.

It took more than two hours. In the meantime, I stayed in their bright waiting lounge sipping coffee and observing a parent-and-childlike dynamic between the mechanics and the staff. It is nice to work where people actually enjoy their job and work with pride.

When the mechanic (I\'m pretty sure his name was Sam?) came to give me the run down, he didn\'t talk over my head or make me feel stupid. He spoke straight language even took pictures of the air filter and brake pads. He told us what needed it immediately (just the cabin filter and back brake pads) and what could wait (tires in about 6 months).
This is what I liked best:
Transparency: They took me through all things prior to touching the car.
No hard sell: They were not trying to sell me additional services, and they were welcoming to ask questions.
Affordability: Prices were not less than reasonable, and they gave me a coupon because it was my first time.
They did everything within less than two hours and when I went to pick up my car, they provided me a full account of what they had worked on and even informed me of the next date of service. And, by the way, they brought me a thank-you card on my dashboard.

Their intervention began with examination of my existing tires. Jason came back and informed me that not only were two tires at below tread safety levels but also, he found uneven wear, especially on the front driver side of the vehicle-a clear indication that my alignment was off. He advised me to change all four tires (which was understandable considering the age of the car and the number of miles covered) and perform a four-wheel alignment to avoid the same problem in the future.
I was concerned about the price too, yet to my surprise, they offered more reasonable prices in comparison with chain stores I had researched on the Internet. They have even provided me with three tire choices i.e. budget, mid-range, and premium to choose my choice as per my comfort level and the driving aspects. I opted to take the mid-price and told me that it has a manufacturer\'s warranty and has road hazard.

I authorized the service and an hour later they were already replacing my sensor with a new one and coding, clearing the codes, and performing a second scan to ensure everything was in perfect condition. Alex gave me a preview of the before and after statistics and even made me understand how the new sensor would make the car have a better fuel consumption and smoother engine work.
The automobile was in a perfect shape of driving. The lamp was not switched on. And I crawled out of the store feeling educated and relieved not ripped off which is the most common thing when I go to other garages.

It happened last month when I was on my way home to work and my car had the dreaded orange warning on the dashboard. No strange sounds. No variation in performance. Nothing but that threatening radiance. I had no time to gamble so I contacted Berks Auto Repair the following day after reading some decent reviews online
The lady who responded to me was very friendly and scheduled me the same afternoon with the explanation that diagnostics normally last 30 minutes. Upon entering, I got impressed with the neatness of the shop. Not fancy, but actually professional and clean.
I gave my keys to one of the techs, Alex, who asked a few questions as to what I had noticed. I explained to him that the light would flicker and remain on. He nodded and told me that they would perform a complete scan with a professional level of diagnostic device, not a cursory code read as seen in an auto parts store.
After a half an hour, he joined me and explained the outcome of the diagnosis. It turns out it was a faulty oxygen sensor however, nothing disastrous but something that could have been an issue on my fuel consumption and emissions without action.
This is where the Berks Auto impressed me:
They did not compel me to fix it immediately.
Alex elaborated the repercussions of continuing to drive with the problem for a couple of weeks.
He offered me a competitive price and informed that the sensor was in his store and could be replaced on the spot provided I decided to proceed.

They drew up a clear quotation and stated that I can hire the job latest in 4-6 weeks, should I wish. I liked how they did it, it made me feel that it was my decision, and not a shock request.
The best part of it is that they saw a small nail that had caused a slow tire leak and plugged it at no cost. I did not even say it was; they merely observed it, as they looked at the tires to see that tread is good and the tires hold pressure. It is that level of care that ensures you stay at the same repair shop in the long run.

I felt totally respected and listened to.

Normally the PennDOT mails me a reminder, but this year I have taken the time. One morning I stared at my windshield and realised that I had just a few days to take my car to get my inspection sticker renewed.
A panic began as I had no idea where to go. My final garage appointment had me waiting more than five hours to have the car merely inspected and then provided me with a long list of questionable repairs that needed to be made to the car in order to pass. This was scam-like.
However, this time I did my homework. I went through Google reviews, Yelp, even Facebook community groups. Berks Auto Repair was described repeatedly using such words as honest, quick, and no pressure. That was all I wanted to know.
I phoned them on a Tuesday, and they allocated me a slot on a Friday. They even checked whether I should wait or drop, which was nice. I decided to wait down because a work-from-home schedule makes me a bit flexible.
The waiting area was clean, comfortable, and quiet with a bunch of magazines and free coffee. However, I was even more touched by the way the employee\'s addressed others, including other consumers. It was an easy going joyful yet professional place where there were no grouchy mechanics and loud talking as I have witnessed at various other stores.

I liked the fact that they were not after up charging me. Indeed, they told me that nothing seemed wrong except for my rear brake pads, which were at approximately 20% wear. Nevertheless, they did not push me to remodel them at once. Rather, they left me a printout stating that in the next 1-2 months, they recommend changing the brakes pads.
It is a lot of honesty. They went on to my vehicle and gave the new stickers west of their inspections right there.

It was a bad oxygen sensor. However, they did not leave it at that. They explained me through the readings, what it was doing to the fuel efficiency, and even showed me the live data in case I wanted to. They also indicated a small leak of oil beginning with a disintegrated valve cover gasket, which I did not even suspect. Once again, no threats, just unambiguous information and equal choices.
This is the reason I knew that this is the auto shop I was looking right away:

I have an old model Ford Explorer, and I just adore it, it served me more than ten years, and there were plenty of memories of my family in it. However, a few months ago, I have begun to see something disturbing. When changing speed there was a slight hesitation and jerky bump when changing, i.e. from first to second gear. Originally, I thought it could be my imagination, but it gradually began to work progressively worse. Recently, a couple of months ago, I was driving home after work and then I noticed that dreaded check engine light came on. You can imagine how it feels; it is as though your heart flips into your stomach. I stopped, revived the engine, wishing that it would get away. Nope. Still glowing. I heard no big difference in the driving of the car, but I still realized that I could not just disregard it.

That is why I was suspicious, yet, in need of an honest mechanic. When a workmate, suggested Berks Auto repair, I called them after reading a few positive reviews about the business.
